The Ten Commandments

1.)Do not have any other Gods before me

2)Do not worship any Idols

3.)Do not say the Lords name in Vain

4.)Keep the Sabbath day holy

5.)Honor your Father and you Mother

6.)Don't Murder

7.)Do not Commit Adultery

8.) Do not steal

9.)Do not bear false witness against your neighbor

10.) Do not covet your neighbors possessions

I'm sure that many of you have at least heard of the ten commandments, written thousands of years ago by Moses on top of a mountain. They are simple, to bear false witness is to lie, to covet is to overtly want something that you do not have, and saying the Lords name in vain is to shout out G-D DAM*#$! or any other phrase with G-d in it. Those are they only ones that anyone might not understand
The ten commandments become very controversial especially in the tenth one. It says specifically that you should not covet thy neighbors wife, which could mean to covet in a sexual kind of way, or in a possessive kind of way. Many believe this infers how women were treated as objects that could be coveted, and that it is sexist.

  1. Moses did not write the Ten Commandments, it was god… Overall I agree that the Ten Commandments really get controversial after the first few. I believe many people in today’s world should follow these commandments, because in a way it makes you become more civilized, and human like. I really enjoyed your blog throughout the year… Found it really interesting.

  2. I firmly agree with the commandents too. I feel that they outline some of the basic things that should be looked upon in followed in life. I may sound narrow minded because in some nations or religions these commandments may seem "taboo" but i feel that if these commandments are followed and believed in, it altogether makes you a better person.

  3. I would have to agree with the ten commandments. If people would follow these the world would be a way better place. They basically are identical to the laws of the US. They are also pretty common sense rules. It makes a better person and also leads to a good lifestyle to live.
